My name is Kairah James, current university student, fitness enthusiast and entrepreneur. I’m 22 years old and a semester away from completing my Honours Bachelor in Health Sciences. Though I’m no expert, I’m very passionate about both faith and fitness and want to use my own journey to help you!
Growing up in a Christian household, I can’t remember a time in my life without God. Even before I could really understand who He was, I believed that He was there. It wasn’t until I began navigating the waves of puberty that my faith began to waiver. Those tough and awkward years brought with them many ups and downs; namely my battle with mental health, but ultimately it was there that I found God. In that period of doubt and depression, I started to build a personal relationship with my Saviour and discovered a faith of my own. To this day my faith in Jesus Christ remains a pivotal part of who I am. It keeps me grounded and is at the center of everything that I do. I don’t always get it right but I do my best to love God and love people.
Being physically active has also always been a big part of my life. As a child living in the beautiful nation of Canada, my summers were spent outside playing softball while I trained and danced indoors during the colder months. I was involved in sports up until the latter half of high school, when I decided to quit. I did my best to remain active but those attempts were short-lived. For years I remained inactive and developed poor eating habits. Ironically, I continued to live this way even after I had enrolled into the Health Sciences program. In fact, it wasn’t until the summer of 2016 that I decided it was time to make a change. I signed up for a gym membership and immediately began working with a personal trainer three times a week. Little did I know that this investment in myself would radically alter my life in the best of ways and turn into a lifestyle. I’m now the happiest that I’ve ever been and spend my days pursuing what I’m most passionate about!
